A HUGE thank you to our Room Moms, Mrs. Madar and Mrs. Gazit, for organizing supplies and helping out! We learned that I may not be a scientist, but I sure am grateful for the smiles on the faces of all of my students today!
Love,
Ms. Weissbaum

Winter Break Work
WINTER
BREAK READING PACKET
Due: January 4, 2016
Dear
Parents,
The year is
quickly flying by! This means our state’s standardized test (FSA) will be here
before we know it. Our classes have been preparing for this assessment and
working hard to do their best on these tests.
In order to
ensure that the students are reviewing the reading skills being tested, a Winter
Break Reading Packet has been attached. The packet includes comprehension
passages and questions based on the FSA.
Remind your
child to use the UNRREAL reading strategy that is practiced daily in class as
they are working through the packet.
The UNRREAL
strategy is as follows:
U- underline
the title
N- number
the paragraphs
R- read the
questions and the answers (circle keywords)
R- read the
passage
E- eliminate
wrong answers
A- answer
L- look back
for evidence
The students
can use their Interactive Reading Notebook to review the notes they have taken
on the different skills throughout the school year, and to answer written
response questions. Please encourage your child to write responses using
complete sentences and provide evidence by referencing the text.
Additionally,
we will be assigning a number of IXL sections for your child to complete over
the course of the Winter Break. The sections are all review skills, and each
should be completed to a score of 80.
The sections are as follows: T.6, T.7,
T.8, T.9, T.10, I.3, G.19, O.2
We will
begin multiplication fact quizzes upon our return. Please take this break to
practice multiplication facts with your child.
We can make
your child’s test experience positive and successful by working together.
Thank you
for your help and support!

Grade Team
